With Vail Resorts’ EpicMix app no longer operational, gone are the days of skiers receiving electronic badges for their accomplishments on snow.

But replacing those badges for this season on Vail Mountain are in-real-life versions of the same thing, with Vail Mountain offering pins to skiers who ski 25, 50, 75 and 100 days. Pins will also be available to guests who visit Vail on their birthday.

John Plack, the senior communications manager for Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Resort, said after issuing five different pins last year in honor of the mountain’s 60th anniversary in December, the company wanted to bring back a variety of pins this season, as well.

“We learned last year that people went absolutely nuts for any pin that they could get their hands on,” he said.

To claim your pin, visit a Vail Mountain ticket window with your pass, and the attendant will verify your number of days and issue you a pin.

The milestone pins are exclusive to Vail Mountain, with each pin containing a different design bearing the Vail logo.

Plack said Carol and Arnie Pizer, along with Dave Rose from the Vail Mountain Guest Services team, ignited the idea for the milestone pins.

“The Vail Mountain Guest Experience Innovation team then ran with the idea to bring these pins to life,” he said.

In another new twist for this season, Plack said the Two Elk restaurant will launch the Two Elk Biergarten and Stein Club in the rear portion of Two Elk, Vail Mountain’s largest dining facility.

“The Biergarten will serve beers on tap, bratwurst, pretzels and more, in a Bavarian-inspired setting,” Plack said. “On a first-come, first-served, while-supplies-last basis, guests can join the Two Elk Biergarten Stein Club to have their own dedicated and commemorative stein at the Two Elk Biergarten, which will earn them discounts all season long.”
